OSKALOOSA – Zachary Chegwidden (So., Essex, England, Business Management) continued to make history Thursday as the NAIA announced its Men’s Golf All-America teams.
Chegwidden claimed the first All-America honor in school history as he was named to the 15-player Third Team. A First and Second Team–also with 15 players each–were selected for a total of 45 All-Americans.
Chegwidden finished his sophomore campaign with a 73.7 stroke average in 26 rounds of competition. The Heart of America Athletic Conference Player of the Year, he led WPU to its first-ever national tournament appearance last week.
Of his 26 rounds, 24 of them finished in the 60s or 70s, and he broken par eight times with a low score of 66. The sophomore won three tournament titles, including the league tournament, and was in the top 12 in all but one of his 10 regular-season competitions. He also tied for 48th at last week’s national tournament.
