SIOUX CITY – Briar Cliff capped off its football season on November 10, but three Chargers will be taking the field one more time in 2018 after being invited to compete in the FreeAgentFootball.com International Scouting Showcase (FAFISS) this weekend in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Offensive linemen Kenny Trezvant and Michael McGuire will be featured in the International Scout Bowl, a game that includes players that recently graduated from all collegiate levels as well as free agents in professional leagues that match up with one team of American players against a squad built from international athletes, while running back Noah Ylagan will be playing in the NAIA Senior Bowl, a game that in the past pitted graduated NAIA athletes against NCAA Division II players but now combines the two divisions into two competing rosters that face off with one another.
Ylagan was named a Second-Team All-American by FreeAgentFootball.com after leading the Briar Cliff rushing attack with 1,125 yards on 243 carries with four rushing touchdowns. Ylagan also had nine receptions for 113 yards and two scores.
The International Scout Bowl is set to kickoff at 4 p.m. on Friday, December 14 at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and the NAIA/D2 Senior Bowl will be played at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 15 at the same location.
“I couldn’t be more proud of these three young men,” Briar Cliff head football coach Dennis Wagner said. “They deserve this honor and it proves that hard work and commitment pays off.
“All of them are a big reason why our program is headed in the right direction.”
The players will be heading to South Carolina early this week to take part in a couple of practices and meetings before the competitions. For more information on the event be sure to head to FAFISS.com.
