NEW ORLEANS—Remaining at No. 1 in the Midwest Region as announced by the USTFCCCA, the Wartburg College Knights men’s cross country team held on to the top honor.
The Knights have been led by newcomers in the John Kurtt Invite and seasoned veterans at the Les Duke Invitational.
Jack Kinzer was the highest placing Knight at the John Kurtt Invite, finishing in second place. Fellow Knights Michael Goodenbour, Connor Lancial, and Wyatt Schmidt joined him inside the top-5. Led by Christopher Collet’s time of 25:31.4, the Orange and Black were within seconds of each other to finish the race. Sam Pinkowski, Joe Freiburger, Morgan Shirley-Fairbairn, Jay Mixdorf and Kinzer took spots within the top-10.
The Knights won both early season races and look to host the Dan Huston Invite on Oct. 2 in Waverly. The men’s race time is slated for 10 a.m.
